Secondary school Ingolstadt » Secondary school

SIS secondary school opened in September 2009 with a fifth grade. It will grow continuously each year, eventually leading to both German and international university-entrance qualifications.

English and German play an equal role at SIS secondary school. In contrast to primary level, each subject is generally taught in a specific language – at least for the duration of the school year. However, we place emphasis on ensuring that students acquire the relevant specialist vocabulary in both languages.

As at primary level, teaching is based on the relevant curricula for Bavaria.
In the 11th and 12th grades, we additionally offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. This means students can attain the IB Diploma, which is recognized by universities around the world, as well as the Bavarian Abitur.

SIS Ingolstadt secondary school (Gymnasium) is officially approved as an Ersatzschule and is actively seeking full state recognition. (An Ersatzschule provides courses and qualifications comparable with those offered at German state schools. Teaching is based on the relevant curricula of Bavaria, supplemented by SIS´s own additions to and adaptions of these curricula.) We are considering introducing a Realschule in the future, if there is sufficient demand.
