As a parent of both a kindergartner and a first-grader at Swiss International School, I could not have been happier with our first year at the school. The administrators and the teachers have gone above and beyond to help make us feel welcome and to help to acclimate our children to both the school and the new culture. We are thrilled that we have been a part of the school's inaugural year in Fellbach.

When I decided to move to Germany it was clear to me, that if I became a father I would probably be the only source of English for my child. That day came three years later. From the time Kobe (’01) and Kaya (’03) were in their mothers’ womb, I spoken to them in English. It was clear to everyone that both children understand English, but during the following six years they only spoke some English when they absolutely had to (on vacation in the US). This is not to imply that they disliked the language, it just wasn’t useful after all they both knew that I understood German. That all changed after Kobe’s first day of school at SIS. He came home and told me about his day (in English), and since then he has only spoken English with me and other English speaking people.

I think there’s not much left to say. I am obviously elated. His reading and confidence in both languages has improved dramatically, and I would just like to say thanks for providing an environment that allows children to blossom.

Warum die SIS Fellbach?

In der heutigen Zeit ist eine zweisprachige Ausbildung eines jungen Menschen unserer Meinung nach unerlässlich!

Ob es gefällt oder nicht, Englisch ist die gelebte Weltsprache, ohne deren Kenntnisse die internationale Gemeinschaft nicht funktioniert. Deshalb fanden wir die Möglichkeit, unsere Tochter bereits im Kindergartenalter zweisprachig, schulisch geführt, aufwachsen zu lassen, einfach genial.

Nach bereits neun Monaten im Kindergarten der SIS können wir uns selbst zu dieser Entscheidung nur gratulieren. Die Stimmung unserer Tochter und die Begeisterung ihrerseits, jeden Tag in die SIS zu gehen, geben uns in jeder Beziehung recht. Und am Abend mit „good night Mumme and Daddy" verabschiedet zu werden, gibt uns Eltern das Gefühl, die richtige Entscheidung getroffen zu haben.

Die wachsende Globalisierung wird der zukünftigen Generation neue Aufgaben bringen. Wir sind sicher, dass unsere Kinder durch das bilinguale Ausbildungskonzept der SIS bestens auf diese Herausforderungen vorbereitet werden. Wichtig sind für uns die regionalen Wurzeln, die hier mit internationalen Einflüssen verschmelzen.

Es ist schön für uns Eltern zu sehen, wie die Kinder ganz unterschiedliche Freundschaften schließen und sich gegenseitig austauschen. Unsere Kinder und wir sind glücklich ein Teil der SIS zu sein.
