Lawrence Wood
(Principal)
I spent my childhood in the US and obtained my teaching credentials at DePaul University in Chicago. I have taught in the US, Germany and Switzerland. After living on Lake Constance for 15 years I came to Winterthur when SIS opened its doors in 2001.
I continue to be fascinated by how quickly and easily our students learn a second language. I am currently leading a project to publish a bilingual Maths curriculum.
In my free time I enjoy playing guitar, reading, running, golfing and visiting my family in the US and in Germany. I love living in Switzerland and being able to teach in such a unique school.

Janet Meister
(Vice Principal)
Janet Meister taught in New Zealand for several years before relocating to Switzerland in 2007. She taught at all levels and trained in Reading Recovery, a special needs programme, as well as Gifted and Talented education. In recent years, she moved into senior roles such as Team Leader, Associate Principal and then Deputy Principal of a large city school. There she was able to specialize in literacy leadership as part of a national programme. Janet is also a trained dance teacher.
Since 2007, Janet has been employed at SIS Winterthur, both as a classroom teacher, and as Head Teacher. She enjoys the diversity and challenge that working in a bilingual, international school brings and is committed to continually raising student achievement.
