Books, books, books! How we love celebrating books and the amazing worlds we can visit.
On Friday 23rd April, we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up for the day and focusing our morning lessons on books. Walking around the school you would have seen many book characters in the classrooms and in the playground. It’s difficult to name them all as the number of costumes was phenomenal. Some characters that could be seen were The Cat in the Hat, Globi, The Mad Hatter, Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Ronja die Räubertochter, Elmer and many Hogwarts witches and wizards.
The children enjoyed celebrating in their classrooms with book themed activities including a whole school book writing activity about Billy in Bookland: we look forward to seeing the finished product. Children also talked about their favourite books and some tried to guess the number of pages in the Concise Oxford English Dictionary. As the weather was lovely we also had whole school buddy reading in the sunshine. Looking out over the playground and seeing the children sharing books together in their costumes was certainly a wonderful sight and one that gave us great pleasure.
It was such a delight to see the children’s faces throughout the day full of excitement and enthusiasm while celebrating. The day was a brilliant success and we look forward to future World Book Days.
