SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz opened ist doors again after the six week lockdown. With some safety precautions to the student daily schedules lessons have been able to continue. The students who can't attend in person join through O365 Teams so they can still work closely with their classmates.
Endlich ist es soweit! Die Öffnung der Schulen, die wir herbeigesehnt haben, steht kurz bevor. Wir freuen uns, die Kindergartenkinder und Schülerinnen und Schüler am nächsten Montag, 11. Mai 2020 wieder in unseren Klassenzimmern begrüssen zu dürfen.
During the lockdown the primary intro kids painted rainbows with very strong statements regarding the COVID-19 situation. Some parents shared the pictures in their WhatsApp Chat so the students could stay connected to one another during this difficult time.
At SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz distance learning is in full swing. Although students aren't able to physically come to school they are still meeting daily with their teachers and classmates through digital applications.
On Thursday, 20 February grade 5 and 6 visited the Zoological Museum and Van Gogh Alive in Zurich. They began the day discussing evolution with one of the university staff followed by an hour of sketching animals, birds, fossils and bones. This was followed by the Van Gogh experience, following the different phases of his short life.
On February 6th SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz celebrated it's 100th day of the school year. The students participated in various activities revolving around the number 100 including "What will I look like in 100 years". These resulting images were always followed by uncontrollable laughter.
On December 18 SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz came together as a community and celebrated Christmas. Leading up the evening each class baked treats and created hand crafted items to be sold at the first Christmas Market. The proceeds from the Christmas Market will go to the PTA to fund parent initiated projects around the school.
Just before our Autumn break Primary 3 and 4 travelled to Präz for class camp. This year they were learning about primitive cultures. They spent the week living in a tent and learning how to make fires, shoot bows and arrows, and all about life of our ancient ancestors. It was an exciting trip for all.
SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz travelled to Hoch-Ybrig in the heart of Switzerland for our annual Autumn hike. While walking along the top ridge between Spirstock and Stirnen students couldn’t help but enjoy the scenery. The grassy fields were full of butterflies, frogs, grasshoppers and cows fattening themselves up before the Alpabzug.
Students from Kindergarten to Secondary at SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz spent a week learning about Graphic Novels and Comic Books. Students were allowed to choose the type of project they would be involved in. Projects ranged from creating superhero origin stories to dramatic representations of their favourite Graphic Novel.
The second grade studied the differences between solids, liquids and gases last week. Through hands on experimentation the students could make connections between different forms and how they transform when the molecules are sped up or slowed down.
