The students showed considerable skill and poise as they matched wits with their schoolmates. Chess continues to be a popular activity at SIS Zürich-Wollishofen, with nearly half of the students in grades 2 to 6 taking part in the tournament, along with an active after-school Chess Club.
Numerous studies demonstrate a strong link between playing chess and student performance in the traditional academic subjects. Through regular chess activity, students hone their analytical skills, their ability to concentrate, and they develop their sense of good sportsmanship. And for the students, it is a fun way to learn!
