Shane Peter, Principal
Shane Peter became principal of SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz in 2018. Before stepping into the role, Shane had been teaching at SIS for four years and held the vice principal position in Pfäffikon.
Prior to SIS he held leadership positions as athletic director, CAS coordinator, and service learning coordinator for an IB world school, and worked closely with school colleagues as part of the leadership team.
His qualifications include a master’s of education in athletic administration, a master of science in education with an emphasis in social studies and language arts, and a bachelor’s in English literature.
Shane is a firm believer in encouraging the students to “be the change they want to see in the world.” His main priority is guiding students to achieve their potential.
Andrea Oettinger, Vice Principal
Andrea Oettinger is an American who was born and raised in Boston.
For her undergraduate degree, she attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where she studied Elementary Education. After completing her Bachelor’s Degree, she moved west to Colorado and taught for six years in the Denver Public Schools. Andrea went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Education Policy at the University of Colorado and then moved back to Philadelphia where she completed a Doctorate in Education in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania. From 2013-2017, Andrea worked as the Director of Mathematics for several schools in the Philadelphia area, which involved training teachers and leaders on implementing conceptual mathematics instruction in the classroom.
Andrea is an avid skier who grew up alpine ski racing in the cold, small mountains in New Hampshire and Vermont. She enjoys skiing in the Alps a lot more and travels to the mountains as much as possible to ski in the winter and hike in the summer. Andrea also loves to read in her free time and is currently learning German.
Ms. Oettinger is extremely happy to be part of the SIS team and cannot wait to teach and learn from your children.
