In kindergarten 2, students have started the year with the learning theme Oceans. All of their subjects, from math to reading to art, are in connection with this theme. The kindergarteners have been focusing on ocean habitats. Here they discovered the wide variety of sealife. One impressive creature is the massive blue whale. To better grasp the size, a chalk drawing of a blue whale was created on the school yard. Students observed the drawing from a higher floor and also by walking the length of the whale. It was an experience that the whole school was able to enjoy throughout the day and week. Students then decorated the nearby areas of the playground with other types of sealife, which was very enjoyable for them.
