How we love celebrating books and the amazing places we can visit.
Walking around the school you would have seen many different book characters in the classrooms and in the playground. It’s difficult to name them all as the number of costumes was phenomenal. The children enjoyed celebrating in their classrooms with book themed activities including whole school buddy reading. Looking around the school and seeing the children sharing books together in their costumes was certainly a wonderful sight and one that gave us great pleasure.
Leading up to our World Book Day celebration, we ran a picture book tournament where 8 picture books were read amongst the classes and voted upon. The picture book finalists were 'The Day the Crayons Quit' and 'Hier sind Wir'. On World Book Day, Drew Daywalt's 'The Day the Crayons Quit' came out as our overall chosen winner: a unique and fun book for all to read.
It was such a delight to see the children’s faces throughout the day, full of excitement and enthusiasm while celebrating. The day was a brilliant success and we look forward to future World Book days.
