Räbeliechtli Umzug (Lantern Walk)

This year we enjoyed celebrating Räbeliechtli together as a school community. Students from kindergarten through primary 2 were able to stay together after school in preparation for their parents arrival for the lantern walk later that evening. The week before, each student brought home a turnip. They carved their turnips into beautiful lanterns. Before the lantern walk began, we enjoyed warm punch together on the school grounds. Luckily the rain stopped just in time! The teachers then gathered their classes together and set off on a walk over to the Landiwiese park by the lake. The student lanterns were shining beautifully in the dark. Once we reached the park, the students gathered in a large circle and sang the traditional Swiss Räbeliechtli songs. It was a lovely closing of the event.
