Getting in Touch
Contact us
The first step is very straightforward: simply get in touch with us – via our contact form, by email, or by phone. You are also very welcome to visit one of our Open Houses to get an initial impression of everyday school life and meet the school leadership in an informal setting. We are happy to send you further information, answer your first questions, and discuss together what the next suitable step might be for you and your child.
-
Consultation
We arrange a personal consultation
During a personal consultation, we take the time to get to know each other. We are happy to answer your questions and introduce you to our school and educational concept. If possible, we will show you around our school building and give you a brief insight into classroom life. If an on-site visit is not possible at the moment, we are of course happy to advise you virtually, by phone, or via email.
-
Trial Days
If it feels right for both sides, we arrange one or more trial days
If the consultation is positive for both sides, we are happy to invite your child to one or two trial days. This allows your child to experience everyday school life and see whether they feel comfortable in our environment. Trial days are an important and non-binding step in our shared journey and usually take place after the consultation. If trial days are not possible for you at the moment, we will gladly look for an alternative solution together.
-
Registration
You submit the registration form
If you decide in favour of SIS after the consultations and trial days, we will provide you with the registration form – either digitally or in printed form. Please complete the form in full and submit it to the SIS school of your choice. We are, of course, happy to support you if you have any questions.
-
School Contract
We prepare the school contract
Once we have received your registration, we will prepare the school contract and send it to you together with information about the enrolment fee. After the contract has been signed and the enrolment fee has been received, your child is officially registered at SIS Switzerland and their place at the school is reserved. Thank you for your trust – we look forward to accompanying your child on their educational journey.

When is the best time to enrol my child?
As we welcome students from both local and internationally mobile families, we accept enrolments all year round. If we have space in a class, new students can join at any time and thus also during the school year.
Experience shows that most children are enrolled in the spring, between February and April, so that they can start the new school year in August of the same year. -
From what age can I enrol my child?
The school enrolment age varies from canton to canton and from location to location and is either three or four years. We therefore ask you to enquire at the school of your choice. On the following page, you will find an overview of our schools in Switzerland.
-
My child does not speak either or only one of the two school languages German and English. Is enrolment possible?
Yes, enrolment is possible even if a student speaks only one or neither of the two school languages. At SIS Swiss International School, children learn both German and English by immersion, even if their mother tongue is neither German nor English.
To support this, our schools offer German and English courses outside of class or as an intensive course during class time, depending on the school level.
-
Does my child have to pass an entrance exam?
During compulsory education (kindergarten to lower secondary level), entry to the SIS Swiss International School is granted at all locations without an entrance examination.
Transfers to post-compulsory education (from upper secondary level) are regulated differently depending on canton. We therefore ask you to contact the school of your choice in this regard. On the following page, you will find an overview of our schools in Switzerland.
-
Do SIS schools have waiting lists?
If a year group or class is already full, the SIS schools maintain waiting lists. To secure a place for your child, please enquire about capacity at the school of your choice early on, preferably in the spring.
-
At what point in the process is a place secured for my child?
As soon as we have received the enrolment fee, a place is reserved for your child. The enrolment fee can be found on the respective school's price list.
