Dear visitors

A very warm welcome to SIS Zürich-Wollishofen, a private bilingual day school with approximately 220 students from kindergarten to Year 6. The school community is characterised by a vibrant and nurturing multicultural environment and represents more than twenty nationalities. The bilingual educational concept of SIS Swiss International School has been successfully implemented here since 2000. Ryan Howard

Principal

Ryan Howard became principal of SIS Zürich-Wollishofen in 2019. Since starting at SIS in 2008, he has held several positions, including classroom teacher, IT coordinator and IT teacher trainer. Before taking over as principal, he served as the vice-principal, starting in 2015. Ryan Howard has taught at middle and high school levels in the United States and primary school in Guatemala.

Ryan Howard was born and raised outside of Columbus, Ohio, USA. After acquiring a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in Spanish, he later obtained a K-12 Spanish teaching license. He also has a master's degree in educational curricula and instruction.

Guiding children on their path to becoming responsible and reflective adults while fostering their natural curiosity to understand the world around them continues to motivate him in his daily work at SIS Zürich-Wollishofen.

Philippa Lieber

Vice-Principal

Philippa Lieber joined the SIS community in 2018. She began at SIS Männedorf-Zürich as a kindergarten and primary teacher. In 2021, she became principal of SIS Winterthur and today she is the vice-principal of SIS Zürich-Wollishofen.

Prior to SIS, she taught philosophy at the secondary level in Switzerland, lower primary years in Italy, and upper primary years in the United States. While in the United States, she also served as academic director. Her university background is in education, social science, and philosophy.

Philippa Lieber enjoys observing the continuous personal and academic growth of children. Her goal for students is to experience safe, happy, and rigorous classroom environments.

She has family roots both in Switzerland and the United States. Philippa Lieber is originally from Utah, but spent part of her childhood in Bern and Frauenfeld. Outside of working in education, she enjoys horse riding, spending time at the seaside with her daughter, and reading.

SIS Swiss International School is a private educational institution that is financed solely from school fees and does not receive subsidies from the Swiss national or cantonal governments. We offer high-quality education as a service – and we are committed to offering this service in a transparent way.

Teaching and Supervision Hours

At our day school, students are supervised between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
