We offer two programmes at college level: the Bilingual College and the International Baccalaureate.
The Bilingual College is approved by the Swiss educational authorities. It culminates in the bilingual Swiss Matura and, optionally, in the IB Diploma. English and German continue to be equally important, both as languages of instruction and in other parts of day-to-day school life.
A Broad General Education
At college level, students enjoy a general education that is both broad and deep. Our main priority is to enable them to understand their natural, technical and cultural surroundings in Switzerland as well as on an international level.
Computer Skills and Language Certificates
In addition to gaining the ability to participate in multilingual classes in a natural way, our students also acquire solid and hands-on computer skills. They each receive their own laptop, which is used extensively in class and at home. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to earn language certificates in English and French.
Matura and IB
Our students graduate from the Bilingual College with the Swiss bilingual Matura. However, as a recognised IB World School, we also offer them the opportunity to obtain the International Baccalaureate Diploma. During their final two years in college, students follow an integrated programme that prepares them for both sets of exams. With this dual qualification, they are ideally prepared for taking up their studies at Swiss or international universities.
The academically challenging combination of Matura and IB Diploma is only offered at a handful of Swiss schools, making it one of the distinct benefits of studying at SIS.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
The IB programme is the ideal preparation for university studies in an English-speaking country. Individual subjects are enhanced with teaching and learning methods commonly used at university undergraduate level.
Some subjects are taught exclusively in English with corresponding English material. This allows students excellent preparation for the IB exams, which are conducted only in English.
Transferring from Other Programmes
This programme is also open to students with a good knowledge of English who have completed the first level of secondary school and, ideally, one or two years of college in other schools.
