This year's International Festival was a record-breaking event, with 35 countries represented by families and staff from across our school community. Students and parents worked together to create colourful stands displaying flags, traditional foods, and cultural activities representing their countries.
Visitors enjoyed delicious homemade dishes from around the world, shared family traditions, and spent time getting to know one another, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that brought our school community even closer together.
Students played an important role throughout the festival, proudly helping their families prepare and run the country stands. Colourful flags, traditional clothing, and enthusiastic students added to the festive atmosphere, bringing the many cultures of our school community to life.
A Walk Around the World
The festivities began with the Walk of Nations, a special moment as students proudly entered the sports hall, one country at a time, carrying their national flags. The school principal, Christian Rütti, welcomed guests alongside a representative from the Swiss Children’s Hospice Foundation.
Families then enjoyed wandering from country to country, visiting the colourful stands, sampling homemade food and drinks, and mingling with friends, both old and new.
A performance by traditional Swiss alphorn players added a special local touch to the evening, reminding everyone that while we celebrate our international roots, Switzerland is the place we share as our home.
Celebrating for a Good Cause
Beyond the cultural celebrations, the festival also supported a meaningful cause. Proceeds from food sales went towards the Swiss Children’s Hospice Foundation, a local charity chosen by our students in 2023. Since then, our school community has continued to build a connection with the charity, and through the ongoing generosity of our students and families, we are proud to support a cause that makes a difference.
Bringing Our School Community Together
The enthusiasm and involvement of our students, parents, and staff made this year's festival a wonderful celebration of our SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz school community. More than just an evening of food, flags, and traditions, the International Festival brings families together, gives students a chance to proudly share their heritage, and creates opportunities to get to know one another better. It is these shared experiences that make our school community so special. And if there's one thing our school knows how to do, it's come together and celebrate!
