Dear visitors

A very warm welcome to SIS Rotkreuz-Zug, a private bilingual day school with approximately 120 students, from kindergarten through to primary school. The school community is characterised by a personal, vibrant and nurturing multicultural environment and represents close to thirty nationalities. The bilingual educational concept of SIS Swiss International School has been successfully implemented here since 2012. Birgit Fauland-Würnschimmel

Principal

Birgit Fauland grew up in Austria and trained as a primary school teacher there. She holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and a qualification in German as a second language (DAZ). She is also a certified mentor for prospective teachers.

 

Through her many years of international experience at bilingual schools in Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Canada, she has gained valuable insights into different education systems and most recently successfully managed a bilingual public school in Central Switzerland. She has been Head of School at SIS Rotkreuz Zug since February 2025. Her greatest goal is to create a place where children are taught in an appreciative and future-orientated way so that they can find and shape their place in the world as active global citizens.

 

As a head teacher, she is passionate about promoting learning processes across all class levels. She uses practical and creative methods to make lessons lively and motivating. She regularly shares her experiences in specialist articles in which she writes about lesson development and creative teaching methods.

 

Away from her day-to-day work, Birgit Fauland enjoys spending time in nature - be it hiking in the mountains, sailing or winter sports. She is also inspired by music, podcasts and cooking to recharge her energy and creativity.

Samuel Windsor

Head of Secondary School

Samuel Windsor joined the teaching team at SIS Rotkreuz-Zug in 2019 and began his role as Head of Secondary in August 2021.

He was born in England where he attended the University of Chester. There, he received a bachelor's degree in primary education with a special focus on the teaching and resourcing of scientific investigations in the primary and secondary classrooms. Before joining SIS, he was teaching in public schools in the UK.

Samuel Windsor is a dedicated teacher who strives to create an inclusive environment in which all children can develop according to their needs and learning styles. He is passionate about working with children from all age groups and contributing to their journey through education.

Emily Gray

Head of Primary School

Emily Gray grew up in Canada and joined the SIS Rotkreuz-Zug team in 2022. She teaches across the primary years and serves as Sustainability Lead Teacher, supporting whole-school initiatives and student-led projects connected to environmental responsibility and global citizenship.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in International Development and Environmental Resource Studies from Trent University and a Master of Teaching from OISE, University of Toronto. Her academic work focused on Education for Sustainable Development and the integration of inquiry-based, cross-curricular learning within primary education.

Before moving to Switzerland, Emily worked internationally in primary education and contributed to environmental and community-based education research in Canada, Spain, and Ecuador. These experiences continue to shape her approach to curriculum development and classroom practice.

She is committed to designing learning experiences that connect classroom content to real-world issues and inspire students to think boldly, turn ideas into action, and contribute to the world around them.

Outside of school, Emily enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and participating in community theatre.

Teaching and Supervision Hours

At our day school, students are supervised between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

 

The exact lesson and supervision times vary between the different year levels.
