Do you also like candles and twinkling lights in the darker months of the year? They create a serene atmosphere. And when they shimmer through carved turnips, it's twice as pretty!
As every year, SIS Männedorf-Zürich organised a parade where children walked with their candlelit turnip lanterns to celebrate Räbeliechtli. They practiced songs for the occasion in advance and with the generous support of parents, grandparents, godparents and friends, they carved the turnips. It's always great to see everyone enthusiastically carving and creating their own unique lanterns.
In the evening, the parade started at the school and led through the neighborhood. The municipality had switched off the lights and so the candlelight sparkled even more beautifully through the turnips. At the end there was a delicious snack and a cozy get-together. We are already looking forward to the next Räbeliechtli parade!
