A Globally Recognised University Entrance Qualification Possible

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is an ideal preparation for university studies. Individual subjects are enhanced with teaching and learning methods commonly used at university undergraduate level.

SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz offers two options in relation to the IBDP:

  • a bilingual IBDP in German and English, where a minimum C1 level is required in both languages.
  • a diploma programme with an English-language focus, in which an English level of at least C1 and a German level of at least B2 are required.

CAS, TOK and Extended Essay

The programme is characterised by three distinctive features: Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) gives students the opportunity to actively engage in arts, sports and social activities, while Theory of Knowledge (TOK) teaches students to develop personal and critical thinking skills and to question one's own actions and knowledge. In the Extended Essay, the students do an independent piece of research.

Participation in the IBDP for Matura students

At SIS Pfäffikon-Schwyz, students in the Gymnasium (bilingual Swiss Matura) have the opportunity to take part in individual core components or subjects of the IBDP and have them accredited.

Transferring from other programmes

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is also open to students with at least a C1 English level who have completed the first level of secondary school and, ideally, one or two years of college at a different school. Transferring from other programmes is only possible before the start of IBDP1 in August.
