Dear visitors

A very warm welcome to SIS Zürich, a private bilingual day school with approximately 300 students, from kindergarten through to secondary school and college. The school community is characterised by a vibrant, appreciative and nurturing multicultural environment and represents more than forty nationalities. The bilingual educational concept of SIS Swiss International School has been successfully implemented here since 2005. Matthew Hall

Principal

Matthew Hall has been working at SIS Zürich for over 10 years. He has had many roles, including being a primary school teacher, teaching in Gymnasium and has been, since 2020 a part of the leadership team. Matthew Hall is originally from Cornwall in the UK. He completed a doctorate in “Modern History” before moving to Switzerland with his wife. Since then, he has completed master's degrees in international education and the Swiss teacher training qualification: Sekundarstufe I für Personen mit Fachbachelor. He lives in the Zürich Weinland and has been teaching in international schools for over 20 years. He is passionate about teaching and connecting with all students to create authentic learning experiences. He appreciates the open approach at SIS Zurich and is pleased with the positive cooperation and support from parents. In his free time, Matthew Hall enjoys playing board games, reading and cooking. In the warmer months, you can often find him tending to his garden.

Shane Peter

IB Coordinator

Shane Peter has been working at SIS schools for over seven years. He took over the role of CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) Coordinator in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme in August 2021 and as of August 2022 is the IB Coordinator and Head of College for the lower secondary classes. Shane Peter is half Swiss and half American and was raised in Colorado, USA. He completed a master's degree of education in sports management and a master's degree of education in linguistics and humanities. He has lived in Switzerland and taught and held leadership responsibilities at international schools for over 15 years. He is a strong believer in project-based learning and encouraging students to take an active role in their local community. Through CAS, his students promote several charities addressing local and global issues, plan and host events around the school and volunteer with the Red Cross to help integrate refugee children. In his free time, Shane Peter enjoys playing sports, reading and working on his many handicraft projects around the house.

Kai Curty

Head of Sek/College Grade 7 - 9

Kai Curty has been working at SIS Zurich for five years and completed his studies in history and biology at the University of Zurich in 2021. However, he has known SIS Zurich for over a decade, having been a student himself and one of the first graduates at the Wallisellen campus. He lives with his partner in Zurich. He is passionate about fostering personal exchanges with young adults and accompanying them on their academic journey. He enjoys discussing scientific, historical and everyday topics with his students. Outside of these discussions, he likes to clear his head with a good adventure novel or thriller. Kai Curty also spends most of his free time in the gym playing floorball, either as a player or a referee. In the winter months, you can also find him on the ice hockey rink or watching his favourite team play.

Ann Müller

Head of Primary

Ann Müller has been an educator for more than ten years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Sciences and a Master’s degree in Education, and has extensive experience teaching in bilingual school settings. She has been teaching at SIS since 2020.

Originally from Manila and raised bilingually herself, she strongly identifies with the multilingual and multicultural experiences of her students and values the inclusive and diverse environment of the school.

She lives in Winterthur with her husband and 2 young daughters. She enjoys traveling and reading in her free time.

Sidonia Bär

Sidonia Bär

Head of Sek/College Grade 10 – 12

Sidonia Bär has been working at SIS Zurich for 14 years. She teaches German and history at the upper secondary level and was also a form teacher for many years. Since 2022, she has been responsible for sustainability at the Zurich campus and heads the sustainability team. Since this school year, she has been chair of the German department and, as head of years 10 to 12, is part of the school management team.

She completed her education at the University of Zurich with a licentiate in general history, modern German literature and German linguistics, followed by a higher teaching qualification for secondary school level. She lives with her family in Säuliamt, Zurich, and finds balance to her sometimes hectic everyday life in gardening, singing and sports.

For her, good and trusting cooperation with students and parents is central. Her goal is to encourage students to think critically and learn independently, and to send them out into life as Matura graduates.

SIS Swiss International School is a private educational institution that is financed solely from school fees and does not receive subsidies from the Swiss national or cantonal governments. We offer high-quality education as a service – and we are committed to offering this service in a transparent way.

Teaching and Supervision Hours

At our day school, students are supervised between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

 

The exact lesson and supervision times vary between the different year levels.
