The primary school students had a blast on Halloween! They showed off their creative and spooky costumes, from witches and vampires to superheroes and princesses.
Primary 3 Music
Primary 3 have been working on a Djembe Project and have just successfully completed their first assessment. Each group put on a really brave performance where they had to sing an African song in harmony while keeping their rhythm going on the Djembe – a fantastic example of great teamwork!
Primary 4 Music
Primary 4 have been making excellent progress on the Ukuleles and are able to successfully play many songs both in small groups and as a whole class. It will be exciting to hear what they produce when writing their own compositions!

"Der blinde Seher Teiresias hat mir am besten gefallen, gerne hätte ich mehr von seinen Szenen gesehen. Anfangs war ich etwas verwirrt, wie sich der Chor in der Inszenierung zusammensetzt. Er bestand nämlich wirklich aus Leuten mitten im Publikum! Die Anspielungen auf den Basler Fußball waren lustig."
"Die Interpretation von "Antigone" am Schauspielhaus Basel war etwas "durchgedreht", aber insgesamt amüsant. Das Schweizerdeutsch stellte eine gewisse Herausforderung dar, insbesondere, weil die Untertitel nur für Adleraugen gut lesbar waren. Die Darsteller waren sehr lustig und haben die unterschiedlichen Charaktere gut dargestellt."
"Mich begeisterte, dass die Regie Schauspieler mitten im Publikum versteckt hatte. Am Anfang fand ich die Zuordnung der Figuren verwirrend. Es war interessant, dass die Stadt Basel bei der Aufführung einbezogen wurde."
Am 27.9. besuchten wir die Universität Zürich. Alle Schülerinnen und Schüler hatten sich zuvor im Vorlesungsverzeichnis Vorlesungen für diesen Tag herausgesucht, welche sie interessierten. Dies, um einen Einblick in die Welt der Uni jenseits eines Infotages zu erhalten. Über Mittag besuchten wir im Lichthof der UZH (Innenhof) die Ausstellung der diversen Studentenvereine. Es gab eine grosse Vielfalt an Angeboten und Hilfen für Studierende, wie z.B. den Finance Club, wo sich Unternehmen den neugierigen Studierenden präsentieren und Einstiegsmöglichkeiten erläutern oder die LOK-ZH, welche LernOrganisationsKurse anbietet. Anschliessend assen alle Mittag im Unipark und am Nachmittag besuchten alle noch einmal eine selbstgewählte Vorlesung und reisten danach mit vielen neuen Eindrücken und Gratisgaben der Vereine heim.

Das Ergänzungsfach Bildnerisches Gestalten Gym 6 besucht die Ausstellung von Pirosmani in der Fondation Beyeler
In an effort to foster literacy and reading on the one hand and to acknowledge the diversity of languages spoken at our school on the other, we are planning to add an international section to our college library. In other words, a section with books in languages other than English, German or French, as these are already available. As there are probably dozens of languages spoken at the school it would be difficult to select the books to acquire for the library, so we decided to ask the school community for book donations.
So, if you have well preserved books in any language other than English, German or French that you would like to donate, we are grateful for you to bring them to the school office or put them into the box in the staff room. Both fiction and nonfiction and both children's and adult books (suitable for young adults) are fine.
For each book, please indicate the following on a separate piece of paper or sticky note:
Author (last name first)
Title (transliteration for non-latin scripts and English translation)
Year of publication
Language
Please bring the books to the school until the Christmas break (December 22nd), so that we can estimate how much space is needed and hopefully start making books available at the beginning of the new year (of course donations will still be possible later).

My First MUN
I used to think MUN was some boring club and hadn't ever given it much thought. I always heard that people joined to ‘make it look good in their college applications,’ but other than that, what made joining MUN special? Well, last week I had my first conference: RheiMUN 2023. Apparently, there is a reason it looks SO good for your student background, it teaches you so many abilities that aren’t otherwise mentioned enough in our daily life. A skill that is universally needed in so many careers, and MUN turns out to be the best way to cultivate it. For me, I was very anxious for my first conference. Debate was like a whole new game, where the rules were hard to grasp. Fortunately, the help book consisting of my wonderful chairs, classmates and teachers made it smoother to learn. I slowly realized the thrill of debating, and the many skills I had otherwise no way of exercising. What made MUN special to me was learning how to balance diplomacy and representation of my country, the split-second research sessions and creating arguments that left my opponents stalling, hearing the clap of when my resolution passed. Overall, I am very grateful for my first MUN experience and can’t wait for many more conferences in the future!
